A Better Approach

Over the years, I've gleaned valuable insights about effective learning in the financial sector. What I've found is that professionals in treasury, risk, and markets often seek a deeper understanding of techniques, processes, and applications within their business. I firmly believe that well-designed training can make a significant difference, short-circuiting months of trial and error that, quite frankly, many simply haven't the time for. It provides a framework for building future understanding and improving your work.

There's a crucial distinction between academic learning and practical business knowledge. When businesses invest in training, they're looking for a return on their capital. This can be tricky to quantify, especially when the outcomes aren't immediately visible. However, when thoughtfully planned and executed at the right time, the benefits to your business can be substantial.

My approach has evolved over time. Whilst I used to develop courses with fixed agendas (as most training still does), I've learnt that the most effective sessions are tailored to address your specific business needs. This might involve examining your current processes, facilitating high-level discussions, or even reshaping how you do things – all in service of your objectives.

What I offer isn't just training – it's a blend of consulting and practical knowledge transfer. Each engagement is unique, taking into account your specific goals and delivering insights to a targeted audience at the appropriate level. For instance, when working with a board on risk reporting, we completely redesigned their information pack, transforming it from data they struggled to understand into a tool they could effectively use for decision-making.

My expertise spans a wide range of topics within treasury, risk, and markets for banks, building societies, non-bank financial institutions, and corporates. I bring 40 years of industry experience to bear on the problems and issues you face, whether it's developing new tools and techniques, facilitating oversight discussions, or implementing improvements.

I'm also keeping an eye on the horizon, exploring how AI can enhance treasury. Whilst it's not yet a primary focus for many, I believe AI has the potential to significantly improve workflows, from document repurposing to acting as a co-worker in daily tasks.

If this approach resonates with you – if you're looking for more than just a standard training course, but rather a tailored solution that addresses your unique challenges – I invite you to get in touch. We can discuss your needs in detail and explore how I might be able to assist.

Whether you require high-level strategic guidance or hands-on support for a specific initiative, my aim is to provide practical insights that lead to meaningful improvements in your business.
